On 31 January 1837 Wilford Woodruff wrote in his diary that the Church had purchased the charter of the Bank of Monroe. The Bank of Monroe issued notes in $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 denominations. The uniface notes were printed four to a sheet in an A-B-C-D series, depending on their location on the sheet. Notes Dated 1 July 1836 were issued by the bank over Oliver Cowdery's signature.
Bank of Monroe $5
VERY FINE - Nice example with a few pinholes, otherwise a problem free note. Does not have an Oliver Cowdery signature. The only known example of a $5 note with an Oliver Cowdery signature is in the LDS church collection.
